Less Light

image electricitat_renovable_europa.jpg (70.7kB)

Problem

Light is important in the animals and plant life cycle. Depending on the species, it will have a power of attraction or repulsion. Some birds or insects will be attracted and be disoriented by the light. While some bats or mammals will avoid this light, that participate to habitat fragmentation. There is a lot of studies that increase this awareness of light pollution in cities. France has even integrated the notion of "Black Corridor" in addition to the Green and Blue Corridor, to preserve and restore an ideal ecological network to nightlife.

Technology and IT have a role to play in this transition, providing innovative solutions that will help reduce our light pollution.

Idea

3 lines of action :
- Time axis (schedules, durations, ...) → motion sensor ?
- Spatial axis (density, position, ...) → Acting on the mapping of light ?
- Luminaire characteristics (height, spectrum, flux, ...)
