I find that with me it’s not whether or not a person has a college degree that counts. I never ask about a person’s education: every guy I date has a job or career. After all, I’m in my 40s, the guys I date tend to be older, and asking about college is asking about something that happened 20+ years ago.

So what does matter to me is how much a guy is interested in thinking and learning now. Learning, to me, is a lifelong process, and when people are so satisfied with the little they know that they have little curiosity about the vastness of what they don’t know, I find them very limiting. When you think of it, even in college we learned what we needed to know to get a job (or sometimes just a piece of paper). Learning about life, and about subjects that are important but don’t affect our careers, had to wait until after college. Getting an MBA or advanced degree might indicate a deep curiosity in a certain subject – or might only indicate a desire to make more money.

So would I date someone without a college degree? Sure

Would I date someone with a degree who hasn’t bothered to pick up a book since graduation? Probably not.
